New Mexico Literacy Scholarship
The New Mexico Literacy Scholarship is a stipend given to a graduate student enrolled in a program of reading/language arts/literacy emphasis and who must reside or teach in New Mexico and be a member of a local NMIRA council. The scholarship is awarded to the recipient prior to June 30th.
Requirements:
The applicant must be:
1. Graduate student
2. Enrolled in a college or institution
3. Reside or teach in the state of New Mexico
4. Member of a local NMIRA council by December 1 of the current year (e.g. year of application)
CONTENTS OF THE APPLICATION:
1. A letter from the applicant with the details of the above requirements and a brief statement as to why the scholarship is wanted and needed.
2. Letters of recommendation from the applicant’s superintendent and/or principal and/or university or college supervisor
3. Proof of University/College reading/language arts/literacy emphasis enrollment.
Deadline for receiving applications: May 31 of each year
Scholarship awarded: At the July/August NMILA Leadership Workshop
Amount of Scholarship Award: $500.00
